Food and nutrition at Norwood Grange

Dementia Care Home

Your new life starts here

The chefs at Norwood House work hard to create a menu that will have you eagerly anticipating every meal time. As well as being nutritious and delicious, the team pride themselves on creating meals that please the eye as well as the taste buds. Ingredients are sourced locally and meals freshly prepared daily. As a smaller care home, we’re able to take a consultative approach to meal planning, involving residents in the planning process to ensure that there is something for everyone on our varied menu.

Mealtimes, a time to socialise

Meals are served in our spacious dining room. This is the hub of the home and everyone looks forward to both the food and the chance to have a natter and a catch up with friends and staff members. However, we fully respect the wishes and desires of our residents. Those who wish to eat alone can have meals served in the privacy of their own rooms.

Meeting dietary requirements

If you have special dietary requirements we'll make sure they're accommodated and there are always alternatives if ever you don't like something that's on the menu. Similarly, although we take great care to ensure everything is fresh, you can still have whatever you want (so don't worry about that special hankering for Angel Delight or Heinz Cream of Tomato, it's no problem!)

Dementia and nutrition

As one of Sheffield’s best specialist dementia care homes, we understand that people living with dementia can often experience issues with food, eating and drinking. Depending on the individual, these changes can result in dehydration, weight loss or weight gain.

The issues can arise out of anything from a change in taste and preferences, to problems with coordination or simply forgetting or not wanting to eat. Our team is experienced in supporting people living with dementia. We will support people to eat and drink, source finger food to support coordination difficulties and keep a close eye on food intake to ensure that residents stay healthy and well hydrated during their time with us.
