Activities and keeping busy at Norwood Grange

Dementia Care Home

Your new life starts here

Keeping residents engaged, active and happy is an important part of life here at Norwood Grange. Through our varied activities programme, we offer person centred care with a range of lifestyle choices for our residents, regardless of interests and ability.

Person centered activity planning

As a smaller care home, we’re proud to involve our residents in planning activities, ensuring that they reflect their skills and interests. Activities are chosen primarily with enjoyment in mind, but our trained activities coordinator ensures that they also provide mental stimulation and increase social interaction.

Of course, we recognise that not everyone will want to take part in activities. We fully respect everyone’s individual wishes. If you're not in the mood for activities or performances our staff are always on hand to have some ‘one to one’ time for a chat, to look at photos or play a game.

Regular activities and events

Our regular activities include:

  • Weekly visits from a local hairdresser
  • Regular outings
  • Music visits to supplement the in-house activities
  • Hand massage and manicure therapy
  • Pet therapy
  • Six-weekly chiropody services
  • A Local priest who provides service and communion monthly
  • Regular Gents clubs, Bingo, Knitting club, arts and crafts and much much more!

Or tell us what we can arrange for you. Whatever you like doing, be it gardening, making the most of the local amenities, being pampered in the comfort of the home, or simply relaxing, you can continue to do it with us at Norwood Grange.

We also have regular visitors who come to the home to provide additional activities, entertainment and support. Pony therapy visits are a firm favourite, along with the singers and performers who regularly come into the home to provide entertainment. In addition, seasonal activities such as summer fetes and the Christmas Panto are special favourites.

Dementia friendly activities

Supporting people living with dementia, we ensure that our activities programme includes a range of options designed to keep those living with dementia calm and happy. This includes physical and mentally stimulating activities, opportunities to socialise, art, music and sensory activities, reminiscence and more.

Our activities plan is updated weekly and displayed in the lounge, so you can choose and plan what you'd like to have a go at.
